In recent years, it seems like severe weather is becoming more and more common across the US. From wildfires, to tornadoes, and super storms like Katrina and Sandy, the impact is felt in every corner of our country. While we can’t prevent severe weather events from happening, we can improve existing infrastructure, so that widespread power and transit outages are less likely to occur. How is Alpha 3 participating in making the country’s infrastructure more resilient? We are currently involved in several projects that will help to reduce the risk of damage from severe storms.

Alpha 3 Gives Back | #GivingTuesday & Feeding America

Alpha 3 is doing its part to give back to our communities this Giving Tuesday. It’s not a secret that rising food insecurities due to economic struggles and continuing effects of COVID-19 is an issue facing a large portion of our country. Those who were once able to contribute to stocking food pantries are now waiting in line to ask for help. Feeding America projected 1 in 8 people and 1 in 6 children may experience food insecurity in 2021 – that’s roughly 48 million Americans.

In the News | Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Passed

The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R.3684 – the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) on Friday, November 5 th. The Act brings much needed federal funding to our nation’s aging infrastructure. Roughly $1.2 trillion will be invested in transportation, electricity, environmental, and broadband projects across the U.S. Key highlights include: $110 billion toward roads, bridges, and other major surface transportation projects; $73 billion for the country's electric power grid; $65 billion for broadband; and $39 billion for public transit.

Get to Know Us | An Alpha 3 Electrical Designer

Tami Burke-Leizear joined Alpha 3 in October 2019 as an Electrical Designer and Drafter. She is currently in Elkridge, MD, working with Sargent & Lundy’s Electric Grid Infrastructure Services Group (EGIS) for a local electric utility. Her projects consist of a 230kV GIS transmission substation and provisions for additional future 230kV underground transmission lines. Tami has also worked in the Nuclear Power Generation and Distribution fields - providing CAD design and drafting support for multiple engineering projects throughout the United States.
